Love's Celebration - Advent 2024 - Day 19

"The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.

Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame."  (Zephaniah 3:17, 18-19 KJV)

Have you ever imagined God singing? This prophecy reveals something astounding - not just that God saves us, but that He celebrates over us with songs of joy. The Hebrew word for "rejoice" (sus) here suggests spinning around in exuberant delight, like a father dancing with pure joy over his child.

This isn't a distant deity maintaining proper protocol; this is intimate, expressive, uncontained love. And notice the phrase "rest in his love" - it means He's quiet in His love, suggesting both contentment and complete satisfaction. The God who gathered the sorrowful and turned their shame into fame is still transforming mourning into dancing today.
